The Role - PCR Sales & Technical Support Specialist

Following expansion, they seek to recruit a customer focused PCR Sales & Technical Support Specialist, responsible for training, technical support and sales across their range of PCR instrumentation.

The PCR Sales and Support Specialist holds the responsibility for the PCR Analyser business in UK, Netherlands, Belgium & Luxembourg. It is the expectation that by partnering with the local Account Managers and FAS team, the PCR Specialist will generate, qualify and help closing sales opportunities

As well as providing regular technical and scientific training both internally to Account Managers and FAS and externally to end user customers, the PCR Specialist will attend, giving scientific presentations when appropriate, user group meetings, national and international conferences, scientific seminars, local meetings and any other meeting or conference as deemed appropriate with the view to developing the business for the PCR product portfolio.

By effective and efficient literature searches, market & industry knowledge and on territory prospecting the PCR Specialist is expected to drive strong business growth and increase market share within the addressable PCR community. Ensuring creation of, use and adoption of, local initiatives it expected that the PCR Specialist will achieve stated objectives set out at the start of employment and reviewed on a quarterly basis.

The role leverages the entire cell biology product portfolio through a centralised technical and commercial approach directed to the academic, pharma & biotech and clinical research markets. It is expected that the PCR Specialist will contribute to this centralised technical and commercial approach by being an active member of the PCR community and relating knowledge and intelligence gained to Product Management and Division.

The PCR Specialist will help direct local sales and marketing efforts, help design literature, contribute regularly to internal discussions on the market trends and contribute to regional sales and marketing plans via Marketing and Sales plans.

There will be a commercial sales target associated with this role for which the PCR Specialist will take responsibility for achieving in association with local Account Managers, local Field Applications Specialists and Sales Management. Job Duties Include:


1: Represent the Company professionally, ethically, and morally at all times

2: Develop a strong technical and commercial knowledge of PCR principles, applications, processes and market trends & challenges

3: In collaborations with the Sales Managers develop a market segment specific plan and execution to meet sales quotas

4: Delivery of technical seminars and presentations on PCR solutions to demonstrate role and relevance of the technology in the following market segments:

o Pharma, Biotech: Discovery, Toxicology, Clinical Development, QA/QC

o Academic labs

o Clinical Research laboratories

5: Demonstrate command of scientific knowledge to engage in collaborations with Key Opinion Leaders

6: Effectively prospect in collaboration with the Account Manager and generate and qualify new leads

7: Develop and maintain strong customer connections at various levels in the organisations

8: Maintain a collaborative working relationship with internal, cross-functional colleagues.

9: Time Management skills will be key as this is a field based role

10: Ability to self-start and organise one's own diary

11: Keep up to date diary of appointments

12: Populate the CRM database SFDC with meeting notes and opportunities

13: Maintain a healthy pipeline of opportunities.

Your Background - PCR Sales & Technical Support Specialist

To succeed in this exciting role, you will ideally have the following experience

1: 3 to 5 years commercial experience with Real Time PCR technologies

2: PhD in Biochemistry, Biology or Life Science discipline or equivalent experience

3: Experience working in a Specialist or overlay function desirable

4: Strong technical background in Real Time and/or PCR - history of working in PCR laboratory environment desirable

5: Strong professional with proven ability to network at all levels within the customer organisations and in the broader marketplace

6: Demonstrated track record in lead generation and prospecting and qualifying leads

7: Proven team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills

8: A driver with excellent time management, communication, multi-tasking and organisational skills

9: Strong informatics skills; expertise in customising presentations, managing excel reports, pivot tables

10: Strong desire to drive business and establish long term customer relationships and loyalty

11: Self-motivated and self-directed individual who enjoys a challenging, relatively unstructured and dynamic work environment

12: Strong organisation and planning skills are essential.

As a field based role the expectation is 4 days per week in customer facing activity


Travel time across region is expected to be 66% UK and 34% BNL, although must be flexible to follow opportunity.
